Well first of all let me say hi to everyone.... been a lurker on here for several years, 3 with a mk1 furby vrs and now 2 with a mk 2 octy vrs tdi.

Thats out of the way so let me tell you my tale of woe.....

Had the injector recall carried out earlier in the year then the dpf problems started.... never had any before but anyway they got sorted. Oh, i should mention that all of the work has been carried out by Winners who supplied both my Skodas.

Not long after the car started juddering under load so they recalibrated the injector values... problem resolved. Then it started again so on the 14th Nov it went back to the garage and they diagnosed a clogged fuel filter which was duly changed.

Then last Tuesday on my way home from work, on the outside lane of the A40 dul carriage way between Barnwood and Elmbridge court (for the Glawster people here) the car died. Without warning it just stopped! Thank God there had been an accidebt earlier and the traffic was slow moving or i dread to think what would have happened.....

I was sat there waiting for the AA to turn up and luckily a lad hopped out of his car and pushed me over to the inside lane and the verge to continue my wait. Patrolman turned up and we towed the car to a pub car park where we discovered a large amount of fuel around the fuel filter..... which had caused the aux belt to slip off completely and dislodge the cam belt on the way....

So.... the dead car was taken to Winners and left overnight. Next morning cue an angry phone call to said dealers and they sent a car down to pick me up and take me back over. The senior technican came out and examined the car and he confirmed there was alot of fuel leakage and he agreed that the AA report matched what he thought.

Which is where i am now.... the car is at the dealers waiting to be A: properly diagnosed what happened and B: what damage has been done...

i'm so cheesed off its unreal, i've lost all faith in both the dealer and car and am just waiting to see what happens next. Merry Christmas i dont think.

Oh and dont get me started on the 1.6 octy estate ive been given as a courtesy car!

Annoying it may be but it might be a blessing in disguise.

They either haven't seated the gasket properly on the lid of the fuel filter housing or they haven't clipped one of the feed or return pipes on securely.

A failed cambelt will at best require an engine rebuild, at worst a new engine.

I too had DPF issues after the injector change on my PD170, all seems OK (until I found oil in the coolant over the weekend) but it took a lot of effort and hassle and to be honest I'm not sure what all the adjusting, tweaking and fiddling, not to mention diesel mixing with the enine oil has done to the life expectancy of the major mechanicals.

Or when they changed the fuel filter they levered the lid off with a screwdriver.

This bends the lid and it will never seal again - New fuel filter housing required.

A Skoda master tech told me that a bulletin had been issued to dealers due to the number of fuel filter housings, auxiliary belts, cam belts and even engines that were being claimed under warranty due to a ham fisted fuel filter change.

It's a real bummer and glad to hear you didn't get rear ended, but on the plus side you've got the AA as witness and records to show they changed the now leaking fuel filter less than a month ago so they'll find it very difficult to anything other than admit liability.

Sounds like another dealer mess up regarding injector change. Same with mine....no DPF problems...injector change then loads of problems. Resulted in diesel leaking into the oil. I lost all faith in the car so got rid of it.

Probably a wise move, I too have diesel mixing with the engine oil for a few thousand miles until they were able to fix it.

Guess what, the oil cooler has just started leaking, I wonder if this is related :wonder:

Well i picked the car up this morning. Don't know what to think at the mo to be honest.... i guess im a little nervous about it. Its going ok but i've lost faith in it and i think it'll be time to get rid soon.

In a nut shell the diesel leaked onto the aux belt which slipped right off and knocked the cambelt. 2 valves were knackered so its had all that replaced, head etc etc. Didn't cost anything (just as well they didn't try anything there else i'd have hit the roof) but the overall pain in the arris factor was massive.

All thats left now is my letter to the MD of skoda uk.....

^This. Give me a well rebuilt vehicle over a full service history any day.

Push for a free service voucher and maybe ask another local dealer to check over the work to give you confidance.
