Mounting maxidot

Featured Replies

Hi!

I've a roomster 1.6 tdi without maxidot.

I want buy a maxidot unit on eBay, i've read some thread about maxidot but i don't understand if i need extra parts or only the display.

Anyone can help me?

Sorry I can't answer the question, but can add a question. I'm interested in the same, but wondered about mileage. Presumably the replacement maxidot would be used, and difficult to change the mileage to be right for your car.

Also I know in some VAG cars (like my old 2002 Audi A3) the immobiliser was built into the instruments.

Search this thread for info on swapping or retro fitting Maxidot displays to Octavias. I don't know for sure, but I'd guess it would have the same issues regarding coding the immobilizer having to be done at the dealer (who would follow the procedures for replacing a damaged Maxidot unit), at Shark (who can also code used units but cannot change the last numeral in the mileage for some reason) and we await an announcement from Eddie_NL on this forum that he also has the technology to do it (and has already done so on Golfs).

immo is built in all clusters, oddly enough in the Passat and Passat CC it is built in the Convenience module

Mileage can be set in new clusters and changed on used clusters.

Old clusters use Micronas chips where newer clusters are by NEC

Done this on 1.9 tdi roomy, you will need immobiliser pin from both clusters and then easy plus if you need to change mileage you need someone with right equipment. I done in Hemel Hempstead. If you not far will give you contact.
