Roomy is Beeping at me!

Featured Replies

I'm not sure what this is but everytime the weather drops around zero C I get this strange beeping noise in the car.

Beep beep.......beep beep........beep beep.........beep beep........beep beep. It's not loud, in fact driving with the radio on I can't hear it. But ticking over it's there about every two to three minutes.

It's not the Ice warning, that is a lot louder with the snowflake on the display and temperature display.

There is nothing on the dash display just this faint beeping. Everything seems ok and the car is driving reasonably well. Doing 40-50mpg round town.

I'm at a loss. I don't know what it is. Once the temperature rises it goes away.

Any help welcome.

Thanks.

Do you have parking sensors intalled? If so may be they are playing up?

I have another problem every winter and when temp is below +2 Centigrades. When I turn my heating vents on then a whinning sound occurs and follows the engine's revs. This sound occurs either with a/c compressor activated or not. Two years now and no one can give me an explanation - solution. Heating unit (climatic) works fine though. No sounds when ambient temp is above +2 degrees Centigrades

Any thoughts will be welcome.

I have the same sound in this recent weather. Not always immediately, but when idling to warm the engine with heating vents on a high pitched whining sound will occur, disappears though when i rev the engine slightly.

Hmmm!! mine follows the engine revs. I tend to believe that is a contraction - expansion issue due to great temperature difference that causes the sound

At least I am not the only one!!

No, no parking sensors. The weather's warmed up this week so not doing it now. I will try and get it diagnosed after the holiday.

Did you get this diagnosed? I have the same issue, but slightly worse. Beep is loud and repeats every second.

I think it is coming from behind the instrument cluster, from the same speaker that the indicators use to make their sound. (as I don't get an indicator sound when temp is below zero and beep is every second)

does it happen at a certain speed, not accidently set the speed warning ?

There is a low battery warning which is a quiet intermittent beep.

I've only ever know this to sound though when the engine is off and the radio / interior lights are draining the battery etc.

It occurs when the speed is greater than ~5mph.
