Obviously Janspeed don't currently make an exhaust for the Mk1 RS, but they will do by the end of this week!

They're building an exhaust on my car now and will be building a jig at the same time. So it should become available to others soon.

It'll obviously be 2.5" stainless. Resonated with a smaller back box, to attempt to make some noise. I've gone for twin round tips to fill the cut-out nicely.

I'll get some photo's up at the weekend hopefully. Watch this space......

LOVE MY MILTEK RES SYSTEM BUT BE GOOD TO SEE THIS

My exhaust is glorious! It's absolutely spot on and I couldn't be happier with it.

Turns out they didn't make a jig off it, so it's a one-off custom system. If there's demand, I'm happy to take the car back in and let them make a jig.

The quality and fit is superb. 2.5" stainless, swaged over the downpipe. High flow resonator and back box. Nice strong stainless hangers with the proper ends on them (like the standard exhaust) to stay correctly fitted to the rubbers. Twin 3" slash cut tailpipes, which look perfect in the cut-out.

They even replaced my back box hanger and all the heatshield retaining washers. I had various rattles and vibrations in hard cornering from the old standard exhaust and all these have now gone.

Apparently it's going to get much louder as it settles in. Lovely deep grumble on tick over and when you blip the throttle. Spits on overrun which I love. Don't notice it when motorway cruising. Can't wait to give it a thrashing.

I have some pics but they're terrible due to the weather.

The only bad news is that they noted the exhaust manifold gasket is leaking slightly on cold start (seals up when hot). Boo

Yeah I did get a hefty discount Dave, but that was solely due to long term connections with the guys at Janspeed.

I'd imagine that if they took this exhaust into production they would sell it for similar money to the systems they make for the 1.8T MkIV Golf and 1.8T MkI TT.

I look forward to firing up the engine every time now! Is that sad?!

Sweet! Cheers Clive. I was worried that the turbo support bracket would be too stiff if I didn't release it first, but sounds like there's enough flex there. Should be relatively straight forward then, as long as I don't drop bits of broken gasket into the turbine housing!

Sound clip attached. Not sure if you can play it! Works on an Android phone. You'll probably need headphones or decent speakers to hear it properly (my phone speaker won't produce the low frequencies so it sounds weird!) Scrap that.... it won't let me!
