No.

Heater matrix failure usually means hot feet and/or a slightly poisonous sauna atmosphere in the car and a madly steaming windscreen. You have to wind the windows down to get home.

I suspect some problem with rods or flaps in the main unit.

cheers J, any idea on what it could be though cause i have felt both in and out pipes leading to matrix as both are cold even though engines hot :/ maybe air block ?

Could be... try squeezing them to get the bubbles to move? OTOH with it warmish but not hot, unscrew the coolant bottle top and try the same. Also, are both of the rad hoses warm? Could be thermostat.

done exactly what you said, squeezed both in and out from matrix, in is hot and out is stone cold, maybe air lock in there or maybe just needs blasting out with somet ??

Mine went the other way and the heater jammed on full. Replaced the flaps & no change £110 down the drain!! It turned out it was the temp sensor in the control dials that was faulty.

I have a similar problem, I have changed engine temp sensor, thermostat and flushed system. Gets warmish but not hot and when you turn heaters on full and full speed it goes cooler. Yet to find out why.

Both hoses get hot although bottom hose takes a while to get hot. Just putting that down to weather at min really. Has been freezing.

Having exactly same problem. Engine reaching temp, had thermostat changed but no change. Still scratching my head to a solution. ?

I'm getting warming heat from blowers but not its normal hot air. Having heater matrix checked mid week.

The heater matrix can get plugged. Leak stop products are a sure way to do this. Check the temperature knob. If it's very light to turn or there is some play, then the control unit for the temperature flap (worm and geared arm) may have unclipped itself.

Are both pipes to the heater unit hot or just one?

Check in the engine comparment where they pass through the firewall.

Having noticed the dial loose or tough to turn.

I ain't good with motors so I wouldn't know where to find pipes for heater matrix are located. The chaps at the garage are checking that midweek.

About three months ago I had a small leak from radiator, the added some " liquid filler stuff" and solved that issue.

Just a mystery about the heating at the min.

get a vag-com scan, i'd stick a fiver on it being the temperature control flap motor.

ill have a good look but i took mine for a thrash today and it overheated like crazy. definately an air lock in mine it has to be, just changed cam belt and water pump etc.. just need to know how to bleed cooling system ha

It is supposedly a self-bleeding system and so you should just need to re-fill, run, check and top-up as necessary.
