Recommend me good 312mm discs and pads

Featured Replies

Well after not much thought i decided on a crimbo present from the rents after finding some decent priced tt callipers and carriers on the bay.

So now im after some decent discs and pads to complete the upgrade. Would like to hear what people with this upgrade are using and are happy to recommend. I normally just use mintex pads and budget discs but want something half decent as it is an upgrade after all. More the discs as im always happy with mintex pads unless you can point me in a better direction.

Cheers, Joe.

I have bosch discs and pads up front on my octy and never had an issue, even suvived getting totally cooked on a trackday

If its just for road use, I just use the plain brembo discs and pads. The non friction surfaces of the discs are also coated so they don't rust like some of the cheaper discs. Should set you back about £120 delivered for the set.

I'm running Pagid discs and pads on mine.

Thanks guys, i will be using mainly for road use but a few track days through out the year and running about 220bhp hopefully.

Pagid seems to be the winner and at a pretty good price for the set. Cheers all.

OEM Discs and Pagid Pads :)

Have a look at the brembo max discs. Just got some but not fitted yet.

Agree with OEM disks, you don't want to mess with quality on brakes.

DS2500 pads

Why?

You know they are not road legal. Very expensive and noisy when cold too.

OEM discs and DS2500 pads.

That is all.

Ok i have had a trout about mainly topics on the tt forums and i they seem to rate ds2500 over pagids for road and track use. They say they are friendly on the discs and produce alot less brake dust also saying the pagids produce alot of dust and can bake on pretty good.

Cant find anything on them being non road legal but did say the ds3000 are not recommended for road use as are rubish from cold and squeal alot but non of these issues on the 2500s.

Some say the brembo discs and ds2500 are a very good combo and others say oem and 2500s are just as good. I will not be buying them untill the new year but i think ds2500s are looking good at the moment but will see the budget when it comes to it and weigh my options up again.

Thanks for some more suggestions guys.

Edit: just seen on larkspeed saying they are not d90 approved and not road legal on certain cars and should check before fitting to road cars. Only thing is who do i check with :S

HID's aren't strictly legal but does that stop people fitting them.

Yes, DS2500 are not D90 compliant, making them strictly not road legal.

Very good point with the HIDs, hmmm.

They're fine, never noticed them noisy or excessively dusty. We're hardly talking Carbon Lorraine pads here that eat wheels for breakfast. Another to look into Joe and slightly cheaper is predator black diamond lads. Had them

On the Ibiza and found them pretty good!

No problem mate your not hi jacking. They will work but i personally wouldn't buy the discs, they do look good though.

Cool. Why wouldn't you buy the discs?

Had cheap drilled and grooved discs before and where awfull for everyday driving. They say they cool better but you wouldnt really get them hot enough to benefit so your just left with less contact area over plain discs. They were ok just found plain discs better for the driving i was doing but did look pretty lol.

Yeah great deal. Priced up 312mm front discs and pads and 232mm rear discs and pads for £125.75!

Ended up with black diamond pads and pagid discs. The discs turned up today and the quality and finish on them are very good fair play.
