vag cars? sorry mate not up with the lingo! is it a cheap way to just upgrade to the octy ones or am i barking up wrong tree there? cheers for info mate

No worries mate... My fault for assuming you knew!

VAG = volkswagon Audi group (Audi, seat, skoda, vw)

Yeah the setup from the mk1 octavia vRS will fit and is simple plug and play. I'm no mechanic but did it myself with a guide off here ;)

upgrade to octavia 312's upgarde the pads and run dot 5.1 as I do! Much better

yea nice one jars cheers, thats what ive heard polo sounds like the simple but effective option.. that just fronts then is it 312's?

Yeah the 312's on the front.

Gonna do my rears at some point (increase to 256) in 2013 as they look puny behind my spiders, but his is purely for looks as wont get much (if any) braking benefit

Recently changed mine for 312mm. The standard brakes felt really wooly and just not very good at all. Bought the calipers off ebay from a guy that does just the calipers or disks/pads aswell. Got pads/disks off euro car parts with the discount and bolted it all together. Really straightforward to do your self. Bleeding it all afterwards is probably the hardest part but get a mate to help and you'll be good to go. Bleed the clutch while you're at it as that improved the feel no end. Now they have bedded in they are like night and day compared to standard.

80% braking effect is done by the fronts - i'm running std discs and decent pads - much better than std for less brake fade. But that maybe more down to decent brake fluid?

what size r the std's?? is there much difference in size mate?

I paid £170 for 2nd hand 312's the first time round, changed to Brembo's for a while and then paid £225 for a set of plain refurbished set off a guy on eBay, which a few members have used, got me hands on some green paint and jobs a good un!

Standards are 288mm.

They're 288 as standard and I personally think its a well worth while upgrade IMO

Standards are 288mm.

Ha beat me to it!

I paid £80 for a set of calipers, carriers discs and pads off a 6000 mile old Octavia VRS - WIN!

only other think I bought was mk1 Audi TT front flexi pipes - as they are a little longer!

£80 is a bargain!

I left my original pipes on as they're long enough, but can see why people do get the bigger ones

BOOM! cheers bro, just bought the disks and pads, why not huh its xmas treat yo self!

The car was up on the rack - had been a read end shunt and someone had already removed the interior and the engine, So I took the brakes - removed them myself. took them straight home and fitted them that day
