Would like to disconnect alarm

Featured Replies

As the title suggests, after trying and failing to sort an intermittent problem with the alarm going off at all hours, I have now decided that it would be simpler to just disconnect it altogether.

So, is this possible without affecting the immobiliser and remote central locking, and how would I go about it?

Cheers,

Pete

Best run your suggestion past your insurance company, increase in premium might be more than getting it fixed.

you can unplug the alarm horn, and get someone with vcds to untick the alarm option

I wouldn't be disclosing it to the insurance and I am aware of the possible repercussions. I would just plead ignorant as the third owner, and in any case alarms aren't really a deterrent and tend to be ignored when they sound anyway, unless they stay sounding for any length of time.

Have already had the siren switched off in VCDS, is it possible to turn the alarm system off completely in VCDS, if so how? I know its something to do with the wiring to the boot lock but to troubleshoot further just isn't worthwhile.

Just need an answer as to whether or not I can unplug the brain, and where its located

Cheers for your input.

you need to unplug it

coding will remove it, but it is still connected via LIN and getting charged. it will still go off

as far as i can remember its located behind one of the....(drivers) i think?! front wings, your'll need to remove the inner plastic liner to get to it and i presume your'll be able to unplug?....hopefully someone will be able to confirm this for you.....
