Any driving instructors using a Citigo?

Featured Replies

I have ordered an SE Greentech, but then my car is only for driving lessons, the wife has the family car.

Got to have decent sounds between customers. This would be my instruction car, but I cover a wide area and love my music. Poor sound would be a deal breaker for me. Looking forward to your input on fuel consumption, been training in diesels for years, used to a 55.5mpg real world figure on the current Kia Rio 1.1crdi.

  • As ive only been driving for just over a year and considering i learnt to drive in a Mk2 1.2 HTP Fabia, I'd say the CitiGo would be a pretty good car for learners. It has very large doors so the side

  • I can confirm that City Safe can be turned off also. There is a momentary button just forward of the gear lever. Confirmation of status appears on the console display.

  • indeed, we have citysafe, it must be turned off in heavy snow for example, just as your full beam reflects in these conditions, so does the lasers

Thanks to Taylor for the audition of the six speaker system. £100 very well worth spending and a pretty capable system for a city car. Handles flac files too, which is nice.

But no album icons when using FLAC files (or at leat i can't get them to appear)

what quotes were given for driving instructor insurance cover?

Been quoted as "minimum instructor premium" by Waveney, so as cheap as any other low insurance group car for me.

my instructor car costs me £470 to insure :( mind you, it is a modified fabia vRS ! ;)

I bet they whine on about the modifications a bit.

this has just reminded me; a few weeks ago I was further up north on the train, somewhere near the Metro Centre (Gateshead) there was 4+ Citigo's all together with some Driving training companys branding on them. It's more together than I've seen, even at the local dealers ...

just taken renewal at £380 with the spouse as a named driver and 1 claim from 2011.

This has been mentioned before.

Apparently its some kind of young drivers school who operate around big shopping centres

I seem to remember that when I bought my Fabian vRS, the dealers / Skoda put the dual controls in for free. Is this something they still do?

I pick up my citigo tomorrow and after the dual controls have been installed I have 2 driving lessons. I get the livery applied at the weekend. I'm glad the waiting is finally over.

Hello

Just picked up on your posts, I'm a full time driving instructor working in essex, been using my mii for about 5months now, great little car, pupils love it, only problems I find with it is you have to be so smooth with the clutch when changing from 1st to 2nd gear, take the learners a bit of time to get used to it, also not sure how long the gearbox will last in these, seams a weak point on these cars, I seem to be returning 50mpg (real world mpg)

Is it you in the red one in Chelmsford? I saw you three times today. I am in the red Kia Rio. At a real world 50mpg, this will work out very cost effective, chocolate gearbox concerns aside.

No not me, I'm up in colchester and clacton , I've got a vibora negra seat mii in TRIBU METALLIC , yeah I find it's similar on fuel to my 207 diesel, but much more fun to drive, r u from Chelmsford ?

Yes, from Chelmsford. Work in Chelmsford and Brentwood. Buying my Citigo from Colchester dealers though.

How come your buying from a dealer in colchester, have you not got a skoda dealer down your way? What citigo r u going for

We have an agent here, but no main dealer. More scope for a deal with main dealers it would appear. Colchester dealer came in with the best combo of price and travel distance.

I am getting an Elegance 3 door in red, 75ps greentech, options include a spare wheel, entertainment pack and 100,000 mile warranty. Was seriously tempted by the spring green, but feel it may be a bit unusual for some customers.

lol... where do I start? most instructor companies wont insure me because its a group 29 car... most of the rest say no because I only teach about 4 hours a week, and I commute to my EMT job, and want business use for the ambulance service... that leaves just two.... instructorcover plus, and llyods latchford... instructorcoverplus, a flat NO to mods, lloyds latchford, yeah , whatever you like, but it will cost you! (15% on the premium for the RARB for example ;) )

just bought a mazda eunos (MX5) for summer fun, and an investment, and lloyds latchford were best for that too £230 on a classic policy with no no claims......

Just do what I did, buy a used alloy/steel off ebay and a jack from any VAG car

Yeah good idea, is there any other wheels from a different model that would fit?

Only Citigo/Up/Mii

4 stud VW and correct fitment are rare.

Maybe Lupo or older Polo 4 stud, but you'd need to check calliper clearance

Safer just to get one from the current platform IMO
