Rolling Roaded..................stage one map working!

Featured Replies

Hi All

I got my Vrs on the rr last month (late update i no) and i can confirm the stage 1 is working.

194.6 BHP

235.4 Tork

Happy Days

Well done, a map does make the difference buddy, bet you are pleased with it. It is the torque that makes the difference.

Happy as can be, just got a de-cat fitted so im hoping 200bhp, will find out soon trying to get a rr booked.

Thanks marko

R-tech told me with a decat my map would give me around 11-12bhp extra :)

Oh and 194bhp to 180bhp doesnt look much but its not the peak power that makes the difference

For example on my vrs at 4000rpm

Stock map = 120bhp

Stage 1 map = 190bhp

Thats 70bhp difference!! @ 4000rpm

Decat on a TDI will be better than a VRS decat.

Some Stage 1 tuners can take car up to around the 205BHP mark. so Marko Pollo I would see that you should be touching that with a decat.

I was running around 205BHP on my REVO stage 1 with no decat.

I then got 226BHP with 262lbs torque form my stage 2 REVO

Now I have Shark Remap that feels better than my REVO stage 2. get in on rollers soon

Sorry i assumed the op had a 1.8t (on my iphone)

So what turbo are you running? Pd150? Hybrid pd150?

And as far as im aware the tdi exhaust system isnt that restrictive and can cope with hybrid power whereas the 1.8t cant make more than 210bhp without changing the downpipe?

My 1.8t with fmic, carbonio, forge dv made 210bhp at rtech with stock dp which i was told was my restriction and with a bigger dp the same map would make 220 ish bhp

He does have a 1.8T VRS

I was talking about a decat for your TDI as they can de restrict well

A decat will not make 10+ BHP on a 1.8T or I have yet to see it. The cat and the downpipe is the restrictive part on the 1.8T so yes will release some nice power though.

Can i not overspin my stock pd150 turbo or is that an urban myth?

Just to clear this up my spec :

1.8 Turbo

Stage 1 map ( generic but savage!)

De-Cat turbo back 2.5' full ss Straight through STD tail pipe ( stelth look)

Boost peek @ 19psi

drilled std air box ( thanks to Rs-Gee-W8 )

k&n fillter

TT D/V ( after a 007p)

All that makes:

194.6 BHP ( + de-cat = 200ish i hope)

235.4 tork

Bit low power isn't it??

Bit low power isn't it??

no, not at all! as said earlier, a lot of decent maps only have a small increase in hp at high revs, it's at 3-4k that you'll really see the difference. also 235 ftlbs is a massive increase.

most stage 1 remaps get you over 200,most around 205-210,bit aslong as the car feels good and your happy that's all that matters. Happy xmas everyone! :)

I find most maps take it over 200bhp with a healthy torque increase, or are the likes of Revo, AMD, Shark not decent? Just my 2p but if that was my car with those supporting mods and and only got 14bhp increase after xxx amount of pounds I would not be a happy customer. Like I say just my 2p

i got 211 bhp 250 pound worth of torque off just cat back exhaust green cotton induction and compbrake dv from r tech on there rr so as long as car is in good shape 210 is easily possible with very little done

My plot up there is an rtech custom stage 1 :)

The drilled airbox could even be losing you power...where did you drill it?

+1

I would junk that and just mod std airbox with a 3" feed if you want better performance from your airbox

I got it drilled but have one thats not, think i might changeg over, yes a 3' air feed whould be good, it on the list ( pref a pipe down the frount of the bumper to a nice filter).

I never implied they were not good.

I was just saying that peak power has very little to do with a decent map.

A number decided by a particular rolling road on a day doesn't really mean too much to me when comparing to another.

I would imagine with a few little tweeks such as cold air feed, arch mod and the new downpipe he should break the 200 barrier.

Merry Christmas to all, have a good one!
