Blower, Windows, C-Locking, Mirrors not working Octavia Mk1

Featured Replies

The blower in my 1998 octavia stopped working so I straight away went to the fuse box, found the culprit , clearly blown and replaced it. Still nothing. Then I noticed my other electrics had stopped as well. Windows, C-Locking amongst others.

Is there a master circuit protector for these non essential electrics I was wondered? One thing that did faze me was the 25 Amp fuse for the blower that had blown. This was clearly too high a rating so I looked it up and put a 5 amp one in instead. Seems this 25A temp fuse that the last guy put in didn't blow until it had damaged some other circuitry and now it has left me in trouble. Any ideas on what to check next?

Have you checked the fuses on top of the battery too?

F34 - 110A (on top of battery)

F5 - 7.5A (in cabin)

F25 - 25A (in cabin)

Fuse25 is the fuse for the blower motor, so if you have replaced that with a 5A fuse you are wrong, and I would expect it to blow almost immediately (assuming no other electrical faults)
