What did Santa bring you?.....Yeti related

Featured Replies

As for the username, well I have to admit I don't have a B8, although I would love one - or a B16 or 19 (I genuinely believe Derek Bennett was a genius who never designed an unattractive car). I actually race a Ford 100E (co-owned with my Dad) in the HSCC (much quicker than people would think), and we also have the (only) Cannon GT which should make an appearance this year. I also used to be an instructor at Croft before my 'normal' employer became a bit too demanding. To be honest it was 50/50 between buying the Yeti and an early Sports 2000, but a) my baby girl won't fit in a Sports 2000, and B) never borrow to buy a racecar!

What's the story behind you and a B8? Are you lucky enough to own one of the little giant killers?

Years ago, I used to watch John Bridges in a Chevron B8 beating all opposition at Croft in the Formula Libre races. Lets not forget Brian Redman as well who drove Chevrons with gusto.

Ah those where the days Regards Tony

And they were all tested at Aintree Tony!

As for me CB8, no regrettably I don't own one, though I helped Vin Malkie work on a genuine one in 1972 when he used to maintain customer Chevrons at his home in Sale at weekends whilst he was working for the factory during the week. As for towing one behind my Yeti, it was a Kelvin Jones built "continuation B8" that he was testing at one of our track days at Aintree (below) and had a brief electrical fault. Stunning car, it now has full FIA papers and in fact slightly better built than the originals - all the body panels actually line up, including the driver's door, which the didn't on the originals!

And for Christmas, Santa brought me .......

a screw in one of my winter tyres. Strictly speaking it's borderline repairable, but I've had it done on the basis that if the repair fails it'll never let go suddenly, but I need to keep an eye on the pressure.

Flippin' tyre still has 7mm tread on it so I'm not going to scrap it if I can help it.
