Don't forget before and after pics, will these lower the car?

it's similar to the b12 kit but has ride height adjustability ....

At it's highest it s 20mm lower and goes down all the way to 50mm ... :-)

B14? Nice.

Yup .!

Was going for the b12 before .. But then the b14s gave the adjustability at a small premium so went with them ...

Interested to see the results and to hear a reveiw of them.

ok, so finally got the suspension fitted today

Had to leave the car overnight at the workshop ... but finally got my hands on it !!

HAvent driven around a lot just a couple of kms from the shop to my house through a few windy roads...

let me first get the bad points out of the way ---

BAD

1) The ride feels a bit jumpy at the back at slow speeds on uneven tarmac ...

and ....... hmmm I guess that s about it !

GOOD/AWESOME/CRAZY

1) Holy **** i was such an idiot waiting for 3 and some years for this mod ..

2) The car corners flat ... I would glady admit that i'm no expert, but the roll from the standard suspension is just not there ...

3) It's literally point and shoot now ... even with the current tiny economic tyres I have on ... my god this car can corner ... all of a sudden I understand understeer now

4) Anyone doing re search or is in 2 minds about this mod ... take my word ... if you like driving, you wont come home ...

5) & ya the jumpiness i mentioned earlier is literally ironed out with a twitch of the right foot ...

She's set up at about 1.5" lower from the enormous 4x4 style 165mm of ground clearance and there is still quite a lot a adjustment available. She'll def be going down once I'm sure that there arent and touching issues ...

Trying to get some pics up as soon as possible...

p.s. - I know my tyres are puny and dont suit the car .. but atleast for another 3 months I have to make do with them (or else I get kicked out of the house :-/)

sounds good :)

It's not very low for a coilover...

Looking good, sometimes you have to keep ride height vs useability. From standard its alot better!

Good review. The only thing that keeps making me change my mind is ride, I carry an elderly relative on long journeys with a back issue. Current ride is fine but I'd be worried about it getting to harsh.

If there is any fabia to octavia owners that have had the eibach pro kit on theirs and have gone for an after market suspension on the octavia care to comment or PM me that would be great. (in other words the fabia ride is too harsh for her).

Looks awesome! Is there any point with roads etc in fitting bigger wheels? Maybe 17"?

@fubar I would love some dark gunmetal VMR 710 s .. :-( .. but then I would never go above 20 ...

And they don't come in 17 only 18 .. Which means that the car will be stationary forever

Lol

I'm not an ex fabia owner, nor do we have roads like yours .. but I do ferry around my grandmom a few times a month ... and I would suggest you to look away from coil overs atleast ... Don't get me wrong .. the suspension is a delight around corners and will change the dynamics of the car beyond belief .... BUT on slow speeds and on uneven undulations the car does feel a bit bouncy and unsettled .. if you've driven a kart around a bumpy racetrack you'll know what I mean ... I've driven on UK roads .. they are literally light years ahead of what we call roads .. but the slight dips and undualtions and all those marking on the road will feel a little bouncy and the elderly seriously DO NOT LIKE THAT !!Hope this helps !

That actually helps alot, I like the look of coilovers but really dont think its a possibilty for me.

Had a nice long ride ... have done about nearly 150-200kms with the b14s now ... and I'm really glad to report the back end now seems a little better .. i.e. it feels a lot more settled as opposed to the bounciness I was feeling on the first day ...

  • 4 weeks later...

I'd thought I'd renew this thread as another vw forum is currently running a group buy on the Bilstein B14.

Is there anyone on here near the London area that runs B14s? Oranyone with coilovers that give a similar ride as the B14
