JulieD, 10mm is very thick and quite hard to bully into shape. 3mm is fine as a barrier, much easier to fold and you get a better effect from more thin layers than one thick. As the air gap between the layers adds to the insulating effect.

I've lined the boot floor, spare wheel well and under the back seat with Dynamat. It's made some difference but not as much as I'd hoped. I thought maybe this liner lying flat in the boot under the boot carpet and another piece sitting under the back seat might make more of a difference. The same supplier does 6mm sheets too, I just thought a single thicker sheet would have a greater effect.

I used 10mm sheets in the back floor of my work car, simply cutting up old camping mats. But that was a big flat surface so no bending required. It works very well there. I bolted down a wooden divider/organiser and all the drumming of the vibrating floor stopped instantly.

In the same car I went 3mm for the sides, under the seats etc. I needed the flexibility, any thicker and it would have been a major battle.

well i have just ordered some silent coat panels 500mm x 250mm 20 of them not a bad price just under 40 quid from ebay so i will see what effect these have when fitted i will keep you all posted as to the results

JulieD, looks very like the stuff I use when repadding my Guzzi seat. A layer of that on top of a big chunk of polystrene carved into a bum shape. Can't say it reduced the noise at all, but then it does have open pipes.
