nose down or level ride height - best for handling on collies

Depends on your driving style really.

You will get better lap times around a track with the 'nose down' set up as it will generate less understeer. Road cars, particularly VAG are set up with loads of understeer as standard as it is more predicatable. For normal roads, I recommend level or whatever standard is. Having a twitchy car on public roads isnt really recommended!

I had a lengthy discussion about this with a chap wjo was in charge of setting up handling on road race cars. The ideal is front set so that wishbones are level whatever height that may be, and the rear level to this. If the ride height at this is still quite high then concentraition needs to be set towards arb's, a good stiff arb and some solid bushes to keep roll down front and rear. Lowering a car does improve handling, but as soon as those wishbones are pointing up, itll go bad again.
