Hoping you can help - I am looking at getting a double din Stereo, I went to Halfords yesterday and were told I would need a Double Din Fascia which they were selling at £54. I got the part code from Halfords and managed to find these alot cheaper on eBay.

My question is, will this kit work with any double din stereo system? I am thinking of buying a stereo on eBay and then arranging someone to fit it. Does anyone know of someone who does this professionally in the west yorkshire area?

The fascia in a Fabia is Double DIN....and does not need any converting......all you need is the infill trim strip at the top (below the row of dash buttons) which is about £3 from the dealers..........

If you buy a good double Din hifi it should come with all the nessesary cages, etc....

Argh! Well according to Halfords I need this part..

Does anyone know of someone who can fit a stereo if i buy one in the West Yorkshire area. So much to factor in when replacing it - I just want to be able to buy a stereo and pay someone to fit it and parts if needed

I work for halfords and ive had about 3 stereos so far,, the latest being a double DIN, ive had to do nothing else to get it in other than the cubby hole that takes up the space when a single DIN is in place,, swapped everything round within 5 mins or so... i guess i was just lucky

Id like to back up whoever told you about the fascia adaptor at halfords by the way: the fabia is one of the few cars that i know of that needs no new fascias or adaptors to change to a double or even a single DIN stereo,, so the guy must have not known this and just hae been on autopilot giving you the usual shabang about stero fits. so just like to clear that up and try and prove that halfords isnt as bad as people actually think it is!!!!

A decent headunit will come with the wiring harness, cage and trim that fits around the screen (thin one). Then all you need is the trim that goes under the buttons from skoda, as said above, about £3. Bosh.

He pulled my car up using my reg on the system bud. It stated I needed that fascia and a cable.

Jasvrs, Briskodians? - What do you think to the stereo below? Easy to fit?

That will fit, not sure how it will look though with the sticky out bit at the bottom. Also given its price, it may well end up sounding worse than the factory fit Symphony.

If that's all you can afford, then save up a few more pounds and buy something from a known brand name like Alpine or Pioneer. They'll be much less hassle than some of these cheap chinese units.
