Yeti S dash illumination control

Featured Replies

I find that, at night, the dash lighting on my Yeti "S" is a little too bright but I can find no control. Is it possible to dim the lighting?

I have looked thro' previous queries and found no answer.

Don't you have the rheostat twirly thing next to the headlight level adjuster?

No it isn't there only the headlamp adjuster!

There is no dash light adjuster there despite the handbook's picture - only the headlight adjuster.

Then in that case, no, sorry, your illumination level is fixed.

EDIT.

Might be worth finding out from one of the VCDS experts whether it can be altered in that system.

if the dial is not present then it is not possible to dim the instruments. Not all features in the manual are present on all models, I guess with the S being at the lower end of the specifications then the ability to dim the instruments is not present. All models from the SE upwards have a different instrument cluster.

I accept what you say but dash brightness at night is quite an important subject. I will try the dealer after the holidays. I am surprised that no other driver has mentioned this.

The Fabia MK2 is the same, its dash is quiet bright at night and non adjustable in any model. Even 4 years after it was introduced its not possible to alter its brightness.

Very unlikely that a dealer will do anything. In fact their computer system doesn't allow them access to a lot of what is piossible in VCDS. You are better asking in the relevant section on here for someone in your area who knows the system whether anything is possible, however from what Mannyo says you might be unlucky..

I would highly doubt if VCDS can do anything about it as I'd guess that the dash illumination is not on the CANbus. I await correction and subsequent learning however.

Could you not investigate swapping the switch for a higher spec one?

I am surprised,I find it hard to beleive the brightness cannot be adjusted even on a lower scale model.

Confirmed; internal lighting is not on the CanBus bulb check system.

Swap the bulbs for less bright ones......

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I will try to see if it is possible to wire in the double switch if the connections are available in the dash.
