i recently had a "mufflerectomy" done to my fabia vrs and cannot stand that noise from it! :p

So i've ordered myself a new back box from euros as they have a sale on and my old one was rotting and needed replacing anyway.

My question is when the garage fitted the mufflerectomy they clamped it to the oem piping and didn't weld it.

So i can take it off no problem but.......when i re-fit the new back box will it be able to slide over the oem piping thats left or will it need welding onto the original piping?

I would imagine it would need to be welded as the two pipes are the same bore size.

Exactly the answer i thought i would get just wanted to make sure.

Although as its sold as a seperate item would it not be like a cut and slip fitting?

I'd go with a sleeve, fit it to the exhaust on your car, then all you need to do is slot your new backbox in.

Use enough exhaust paste and a clamp on each side of the sleeve. Nice easy job tbh.

It also depends where they cut your exhaust off and where your new backbox starts,some alterations might be needed for them to fit correctly.

Is it really that bad with no silencers? Watched some videos on YouTube and they sound pretty wicked.. Hard to tell off a video though I know

Erm cruising at 70 is no different from oem but at cold idle and warm idle it sounds terrible very loud and just sounds likes it blowing (its not)..and when giving it full beans it has no tone to it..its just noise :p

not my cup of tea. Im going to keep my decat on there but just want it abit quieter really.

Just put a littlw back box in. Thats all ive done, sounds miles better than mufflerectomy. Im running the 'cherry bomb' back box from custom chrome all positives from me.

+1 on the video as im thinking about geting the full piper 0 silencer system was your exhaust stainless or just choped out cat?

I have a mufflerectomy ATM, but going to get either a piper down pipe or a custom made one. Then ill get from the down pipe to the mufflerectomy made up in 2.5 inch stainless. If it gets to much I'll just get a small box but I normally like loud cars! My old fiesta was 107 db

If i end up geting a full piper system bought next week i will have a home made decat for sale cheap il just hit me up with a pm next week buddy realy am comtemplatin it like just dnt wna sound chavy been there done that lol

I think the Piper system will sound different to a standard system with a mufflerectomy & decat.

Tom, in regards to your mufflerectomy is the pipe 2" or 2.5"? I know the 2" mufflerectomys sound crap!

I have changed me mind on the piper im just going to fabricaate a stainles exhaust myself since ive bought a new welder for cheap n i have use off a pipe bender
