How often do you....

Featured Replies

Wash or have your car washed? I live in flats built by probable car haters, you know, one parking space per flat (supposedly) and zero facility to wash your car. So, I either have mine washed at work when we are not busy (garage-accident repairs) or by my local drive in where your car is washed well within 10 minutes. Today I had it washed and it was long over due. It was filthy and the guys that washed it certainly earned their money!

I usually wash it a few times a month in the summer. Usually a good monthly clean then a quick wipe over every couple of days to keep the dust off. In the winter, I just don't bother. It's the interior I keep clean most of all - can't stand dirty footwells/seats!

That said, I think I've only washed my BMW once since I got it in May. It's silver, so it always looks boring, so why bother? And the Polo is SORN, so it's getting dirty. Makes for an easier life. :)

At least once or twice a week ;)

When it is so dirty I can't see what colour it is! :giggle:

Actually, at the moment it doesn't look too bad, but I put that down to the incessant heavy rain and the fact that the lane to work has a nice 400 yd long wash bay, that appears to have cleaned the sides and bottom very well. Even the wheel arches are metallic brown not sh 1t brown!

I try and wash it once a week if only to try and keep all brake dust off wheels,

I used to try and wash it at work as they had a hot steam cleaner but its gone now and its just a cold water jobby so looks like am going to start doing it at home now

I keep looking out of the window at mine now its clean. Its easy to forget in winter that your wheels are silver and not black.

Due to the weather being bad, not having time and it being dark after work I haven't washed mine since October. White paint looks like marble and the back end looks like a dalmatian. Full of tar spots

Ok not full of tar spots but they are on the back and up the doors when you look close

Haven't washed it for about 6 months as roads have been so minging that its not worth it, and the water splashes do a pretty good job of rinsing off the thick stuff!. 'tho' admit that the dealer gave it a hose down when it was serviced 7K ago.

Tar ?

Cooncils round here are using some sort of jetpatcher thing to fill in pot holes - but it doesn't last and makes a hell of a mess of the car.

where did these pics come from, they weren't in the original post!!!!!

I wash mine as and when I can. It takes me a good couple of hours so I'd rather leave it dirty and do them when I have sufficient time. Last time mine were washed was the beginning of December. Need doing it again but it's simply too cold!!

That's my thinking. It's better dirty rather than me potentially damaging it rushing to get it done. I take a few hours too

I try to wash mine once a week, it's more difficult at this time of year - can be below freezing. Try to wash the salty muck off the sills and bottom half of the car whenever possible though.
