Race Blue vRS paint code!

Featured Replies

Help!! Does any one know the paint code for the race blue paint pleeeeeeeeeease!! Our ferbi has a scratch which has gone through the paint and will not be able to be removed by machine polishing as you can feel it with a finger nail.

I'm going to get chipsaway to sort it, but will need the paint code for them to get the right shade of blue.

(B*gger!!)

Have a look under the boot carpet, should be a sticker there with the code on it, Richie.

Will have look tomorrow, thanks.

Chipsaway should be able to get the paint code when they take on the job

I bought an aerosol to paint my engine cover and the paint code for it was - 9463 / F5W / 8X8X

I used them for a job on my Alfa and the bloke asked for the code if I new it so he could get the exact match. He did a realy great job, so I'm happy to use the same branch again. (Bircholt Road, Maidstone branch for info)

I'd been told they just type in your car detail in their computer and they get the code that way

Chipsaway dont use proper paint , if you machine polish the car afterwards you'll take it straight off

They do use proper paint I've been to one of their open days when I was considering a franchise with them.

They do indeed use proper paint,

or should in as far as is now allowed to be bought.

Where they ('Chipsaway') & other Mobile or even Workshop based Refinishers or painters may sometimes fail,

is in the preparation before painting.

I have my paint mixed for me to the 'Code' taken from the vehicle being repaired (never by the name or a number from somewhere/someone else)

as i do not have paint mixing equipment.

I do not use or have to use 'waterbased' paints to do touch ups or blow ins.

There is no such thing as a good "smart repair" its little more than a bodge imo and wont last anywhere near as long as a proper bodyshop job , the latter are often cheaper than you think , i has the whole rear bumper done on my Superb for £200.

Its a no-brainer if you are going to change the car but if you are planning to keep it for a while then its better to get it done properly ....once

That is some generalisation right there.

There are professional sprayers and repairers that buy a franchise and can do a repair to the same standard as they did anytime in their career,

there are some that buy a franchise and train and can do the highest standard of work/repairs/touch ups..

Some are that busy doing Trade work that they do no Private jobs.

(Not saying these are doing a job i would want done on my car, forecourt and Dealership Sales touch ups are often bodges.)

There are some doing 'Smart Repairs, Dents Away, Chipsaway, Wheel Refurbs etc that are a total disaster area,

or are on some jobs.

Like any business, trade or profession.

There are some pretty bad established car repairers or employees just anyplace.

Skill and standard of prep can differ with any painter.

Is not the real difference between a "smart" repair and a bodyshop repair that the former will use celly or acylic lacquer whereas the latter will use two pack lacquer, which is harder and more durable?

'Seems', being the important term.

Good sales talk & blurb does not really always make for a good product.

"Solaq UV Curable"

"....and can be cured in approximately 3 to 4 minutes" "Once Cured...."

At least in natural light you get an idea of colour match.

Personally i will stick to solvent based paints and spray in the dry and warmth.

(while that posibility still exists)

If they trade under one of the big names they are expected to work the way they franchise demands not the way they see fit personally , any painter with high standards wouldn't take on a franchise like that , they would have no need to since they have the expertise and experience to do the job properly in the first place

I'm not saying these smart repairers dont have a place as many people dont care a great deal about their cars

It boils down to cost and the age old phrase " You get what you pay for"

Very true.

Some people just like to wind down and earn some pin money without the hassle.
