Alternative to Columbus and phone

Featured Replies

As a new owner ( & a very pleased one too!) of a Skoda Octavia L&K I wanted a good satnav and voiceactivated handsfree phone, but the car i finally bought didnt have these functions. The price and condition was right however, so I have added:

Garmin Nuvi 2595

This gives voice activated navigation and with blue tooth Voice dialling when paired to my smartphone!!

Ive had it installed by Halfords today in the flipup centre dashboard bin and wired into the ignition...a very neat and professional install for just £30 that uses the bin lid to shield the satnav screen from any glare on the windscreen and also allows it to be hidden away when parked

If anyone ( mods??) can tell me how to upload pics i would be delighted to share them with you all

Use something like Photobucket, then copy and paste the photo image url into your post.

tinypic works a treat too.

My car came with the Columbus fitted (ex demo) but no way would I have paid the £1500 for one if it hadn't when a perfectly good TomTom or Garmin properly fitted does exactly the same job. The only thing I hate about stick on GPS units is the trailing wires but fitted like yours is they are absolutely fine. Just dont leave it on show when you leave your car in case some scum bag smashes your window and nicks it as happened to me a few years ago.

Thats the beauty of the cubby lid; it fold down perfectly and easily to hide the Garmin
