vRS Droplinks

Featured Replies

Car is in for suspension refresh next Saturday and on the advice of peoples on here, I reckon a couple of droplinks need to go on as a precaution.

Will these do the job? Linky

I stuck the reg plate in, but it says 21mm stabilizer size? I thought the vRS was 19mm?

I looked on computer and coming up at 23mm and made of metal accually choice of 2 plastic is 21mm but not coming up on engine code

The ones on the VRS are long like on the anni golfs. I bought some adjustable drop links thinking they would be right and when I looked they wouldn't fit as they was too short.

Meyle = NO, in my book. Been there, done that, replaced them for the next MOT again 1 year later. On a Galaxy, this is, but still VW parts lasted MUCH longer. I'd stick with OEM.

wrong ones there buddy. They are for the none Octy VRS that has different ARB set up

you need these

they are 336mm.

Same ones as Golf R32 and Seat LCR for same year.

As mentioned I would stick to OEM as the ones in pick are a lot thinner than std OEM

Thanks again guys. I need to head to D.M.Keith anyways to pick up my shocks, so I might as well price up OEM ones whilst I am there :)

I'm beginning to see a pattern emerging here regarding OEM vs ECP/GSF suspension parts.... :giggle:

Can you report back on price please mate.

Certainly! Unless of course I've died of shock.

I got a set for mine ages ago, from memory there not to badly priced for genuine items altho there still sat in shed as my originals are still going strong

you can get OEM from Euro car parts with discount also should be around £40 pair

I paid around 36 quid from discount at GSF. Decent make and still going fine.

Hmmm they are heavy duty droplinks...could still be worth a look.

Which are the exact type I fitted to said Galaxy, and then replaced the following year.

Their ball joints just aren't up to the punishment.

Checked with main dealer today and they are near as makes no difference, £30 each inc VAT. Not that bad, but still almost three times the price of the ECP/GSF ones :(

Sounds like this is 'you get what you pay for'

Do you have a TPS nearby? Might be a bit cheaper.

check ebay for genuine ones - i got mine for cheap that way

Thanks guys,

My local TPS won't deal with me as I'm just an "end user" :( I had a look on eBay and found a genuine LH one for about £22 but not RH. D M Keith's gave me 10% off so I ordered a set from there. With the amount of money that's going into my (standard!) suspension refresh, another £55 is not going to make much difference.

Some TPS are fussy.

I go to my local one and they are fine. Mind you, I do keep them in business...lol

Some stuff is not cheaper than my local VW dealership. VW are very helpful and always give me 10% off, and have all P/N cross reference for Skoda so I never really need to go to Skoda.

Well almost every suspension component on the car will be new, so although it's standard stuff, I'm expecting a huge improvement over the supertanker handling it has at the moment.

That plus a remap and arb updrage in 2 months will mean I'll have a mk1 that should handle well and have reasonable performance. It will have cost me a fair whack to get it there though. No changing cars for the next few years!

I fail to understand why not. The account that you set up is actually done by VW spares rather than TPS themselves. Usually when you go in person and ask to set up an account it is as straightforward as you filling in lots of details on an application that they then send off to VW spares, and you get your reply within a week.

Try them again. A little perseverance never hurt anybody. They are supposed to be open to individuals as well as businesses nowadays, and it probably wouldn't hurt to remind them of that if they are being difficult. You cannot do it over the phone however.
