stream mp3 bluetooth or hands free. how to activate?

Featured Replies

Just collected my 56 octavia vrs and still grinning now....

It has a stream mp3 radio, but in the headlining there is a handsfree speaker. I assume it is connected to the stereo and i assume its bluetooth. How do i get it working?

Also in the armrest, there is a line in aux socket. can this control, as well as play an mp3 player?

Loving the car!

Don't assume anything!

If it's definatley a speaker with buttons next to it, Skoda do one that doesn't connect to the stereo (I don't think Stream MP3 works with Skoda BT anyway) and is standalone.

I think it's called BlueConnect (http://www.amsparts.co.uk/product/BlueConnect_Bluetooth_Car_Phone_Kit_-Grey-_Fabia%7CRoomster%7COctavia_ZGB123060005).

As to how you use it, I don't know. I'm sure a quick Google will bring up some instructions though.

As for the MP3, the socket is for 'pushing' music from any device with a 3.5mm headphone socket to the car's HU. No control of the device is possible from the HU.

Thanks for that, but there is a kind of little speaker/mic on the ceiling just above my head next to the light with a wire that disappears under the trim. Playing with the stereo, there is also a 'phone on' setting....

Sounds like the microphone in the light fitting from that description.

Might be for voice control! Do you have a BT module under the driver's seat?

Could be that there was a Nokia or parrot kit fitted at some point. A lot of people can't be bothered to remove them. I had a Nokia kit in mine when I bought all I needed was the button and hey presto basic bluetooth, and stream muted aswell.

Here is a pic. Couldn't see any BT under the seat, but it was dark....

The other thing that's driving me MENTAL, what is the button on the dash under the stereo that looks like a horseshoe with an exclamation mark in it? When I press it, the same horseshoe appears on the speedo for about a half second. Thought it might be an ejector seat, but the wife was still there when I opened my eyes again.......

Mr Blurrycam strikes again. Looks rather like a microphone for a parrot car kit. The proper microphone hides behind the little grill next to the switch for the interior light.

Tyre pressure monitoring system, will let you know if you get a flat. Press and hold to reset the system once you have set the pressures all round. If it comes on whilst driving you have a flat or deflating tyre.

its not a Nokia kit.

My Audi has a mic and speaker for a phone kit, but the kit was hacked out of the car leaving just the mic and speaker along with a now useless module hidden away because all the wiring had been cut.

ok, I will have a play in the light tommo. Maybe its as simple a searching for BT with my phone and linking to it with ignition on? The garage said he thought it had a hands free kit fitted.

That's not an OEM microphone.

I think that you have a third party control box missing somewhere along the line.

Take the HU out and have a look at the wiring behind there.

My Stream MP3 (ex-company rep car) did at one point have a BT / hands free module fitted and you can tell by the electricians tape on some of the wiring on the loom (and also the chopped wire in the fuse board area as well).
