Cleaning Engine - vRS TDI

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of a guide to show the safe way to clean my engine with water? When we get warm weather (if we ever do) I wouldn't mind giving it a good clean.

My mate once wet his engine and it wouldn't start until he dried it out.

Just sprinkle it with water then spray in some APC and use a detailing brush then rinse off, don't use any water to remove dirt. If you know what I mean. Very little water needed :)

I used a jet washer ON LOW spray AND from a distance to clean mine.... just made sure i covered up any electrics (battery, alternator etc) and kept the engine running.

As with Wilsy, used APC, agitated and and power washed off.

Others use just a hose.

Yea my mate used a hose whilst the engine was off. When done it and trying to start the car would just click. It was like something was not allowing the key to be turned.

After a few hours it were fine.

Did he cover any electrics?!?!? I covered everything with cling film!

I chose not to use the hose alone as felt it would give too much water... was able to regulate it better with the jet sprayer.... just kept trying different settings away from the bay until I was happy with it.
