TT Comp Centre Caps - help

Featured Replies

Hi all

Just changed my wheels to some nice Audi tt comps :)

Need to change the centre caps from the Audi ones to skoda ones.

I believe that they are 50mm on the inside?

Anywhere know where I can get skoda ones?

I have TT Comps and the centres from my standard Skoda Alloys fitted straight in.

What skoda wheels did you have before fitting the comps?

I thought they would be too big? Either 55mm or 60mm?

I also think I might need a new wheel bearing on one wheel but not a clue what I'm looking for if anyone can help with that too :)

If it's play in the bearing you need it replacing for I think the best trick is to grab the wheel @ 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock and try and wiggle it back and forth. Do the same @ 12 o 'clock and 6 o'clock. There should be little, if any movement.

That's how I found mine after a noise at about 50mph upwards.

With the wheel in the air spin it whilst holding the spring. You will feel the grumbling if the bearing has gone.

As for the centre caps the standard vRS ones fit perfectly.

Yeah it's got some movement when moving at 9 and 3

So I'm now looking for an Audi wheel bearing?

Do I need to look for ones for an Audi tt that the wheels came off?

Cheers!

So the 55mm ones off my fabia would have gone straight in?

Yeah it's got some movement when moving at 9 and 3

Wheels bearings are on the hub on the car and a not affected by changing the alloys.

It's a Fabia so needs a Fabia wheels bearing regardless of which wheels you fit.

The other options for your centre caps is to just change the badge.

If you have e Audi ones of can take the Audi badge off and replace with a bespoke one.

As it happens I can get them mad eup to any design you like.

Check the group buy section for examples of my previous work

No, the wheel bearing is inside the hub, it has nothing to do with the wheels that are fitted. You`ll still need a skoda wheel bearing.

Ok cheers

Sorry for sounding stupid

I've never had to change one before

I never noticed it before changing the wheels over and I never seem to get any wobbling or strange noises at high speeds :(

Is it straight forward enough to change?

And if its got play at 9 and 3 its probably a rack arm not a bearing.

And no a bearing isn't a DIY job.

Sorry, Mk1 Fabia vRS.
