Felicia 1.9 wiper sweep

Featured Replies

Hi

An odd question - is there a way to reduce the swept angle of the wipers on a Felicia?

My drivers' side wiper sweeps off the edge of the screen at the pillar. If I take the wiper off and set it one spline further round it crashes into the lower screen rubber instead. This is stressing the wiper mechanism and they've even snagged on the screen edge and come to a stop once.

I've noticed that when they reach their park position they drop lower then rise a fraction of an inch before stopping, could this be connected?

Problem is not so bad in drizzle I suppose because of the increased drag but in heavy rain with a very slick screen the problem is worst.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks

Mitch

Mine used to do this, to rectify mine, I moved the linkage round a spline or two at the motor. I did this by trial and error. How yours got like this I dunno? I changed my whole wiper mechanism from another car, it took a few attempts to get it right.

Thanks. I'll have a look on the weekend. Maybe it's come loose and slipped round one spline.

It's been like it a while but I just put a new Bosch wiper blade on and this seems slightly taller on the screen even though it's the same length as the old one so it's made the problem more noticeable.

Had a look at the motor drive splines, or at least started to, but noticed one of the three small bolts holding the motor to the bracket was loose - almost completely undone so tightened it up and found that all three were loose and it had been hanging on the two lowest ones.

Now they're all tight it no longer does the upward movement before park. It still just clouts the side windscreen rubber on high speed but doesn't skip over it any more so I'm happy with that. The next spline round seems to take it a long way off the bottom of the screen so I think it's as good as it gets.
