???????

The extra 7 litres fills the expansion tank, guess what that does on a hot sunny day.

That's what I meant.

yeh, with a little reflection.... ;)

not sure if this helps but have you tried redex fuel treatment

I'm getting around 500 miles from full tank to warning light on. Started using Fuelly.com which is showing 48.6mpg, this is exactly 10mpg less than the average shown on the trip computer....

Mine is 90bhp ALH engine with 176000 miles on the clock.

What is your avg speed computer saying?

mines a 90 too, computer says Avg of 63.5mpg, over the last 1000miles, ive worked out its more like 57, with an average speed that works out around 50mph, town and open road driving, bit of motorway too.

trip computer? What's that???

I only have a classic!!!!

I have a L&K 110, running on WVO. I get 450-600 from a tank. At the moment its nearer the 450-500 range. Its winter... de-misters, heater, climate control, lights, wipers, heated seats, mirrors, fog lights, they all get used more and reduce your MPG. Maybe try turning everything off and take it for a spin. This might improve things. I always found my car improves after a service, is yours due? Check your tyre pressures, this makes a big difference, and check your under engine cover isnt doing a good impression of an air brake underneath. Also, my car is best on A roads behind lorries, get on a dual carriageway and its crap. Best MPG is 40-50MPH, in every 1.9tdi I have ever driven! 90, 105, 110, 130 and 150!!! 6th gear helps a little on some models.

My old 90 used to touch 700 a tank driving like a grandad. But then the turbo and EGR used to clog up quicker than a fat blokes arteries.

how do you get on with WVO???

Hi, yes I've got the correct gallons. Also I've done the calculations myself and 47 to 49mpg is what I get (currently 48.6). My trip computer on MFD2 is 58.6 and MFD1 usually shows 53 to 62 depending on type of journey. It is strangely exactly 10mpg out. The reason I went on fuelly.com and checked myself, was the trip computer seemed to be wrong. ie around 60mpg but actual range of 500ish miles. I don't know where the trip computer gets all of its inputs from, but I have noticed that a lot of the small vacuum pipes around the engine are looking pretty tired and frayed in places, and wondered if a slight air leak somewhere might be affecting it ?

Mac11irl - Re the average speed, I haven't checked this, will start watching it to see what I get.

it is worth watching the speed figures too. its surprising how much lower it can be than what you reckon it will be, time spent sitting at red lights and the like, drops it waaay down.

and uphill stretches kill the mpg.

god ive become a boring git when it comes to how i think about me driving....

ive just full tanked my Octavia 110bhp ASV - it displays 385miles range. I though it would show at least 400-500. Is this correct??

It depends on the recent fuel consumption but that does sound low, my old car used to say about 600 after I filled it.

As trundlenut says, the recalculation takes your recent usage (tens of miles or hour or two; not sure which) into account. I normally get at least 500 range after the fill has had time to warm up, say overnight.

Mine is also always 10mpg out (i.e over-reading by 10mpg) on my fuel computer. I always reset reading '2' at every refill and according to fuel computer over the tank I average approx 60-61mpg however working it out manually, the figures are consistently around the 50mpg mark.

How do you drive?

Hi Guys thanks for responding

So to update you; just had a full service + Cambelt kit (waterpump) changed. So far ive done 145miles, the computer is displaying at 40.3MPG, ive driven mainly on A roads and have had AC on a few times as its getting hot in UK. My current range is displaying 340Miles left with half a tank of fuel.

It just doesnt make sense to be showing 385miles at full tank and 340miles at half tank after 145miles. I have been driving sensible and odd occassion 20-30miles on motorway but being a 110 it aint going to sprint that quick to suck alot of diesel out.
