Scuttle drains - where are they and how to clear?

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

I am trying to source some info about these drains. Really need to check to see if these are blocked...

Anyone have pics or a guide for where I should find them?

Thanks

Under plastic trim you'll have to take both wiper arms off at the spindles and get some replacement black plastic clips that holds the scuttle panel on the drain points are right in corners and are are like little letter box holes about the size of a iPhone

Not sure if it's similar to the octavia but you could unblock the skuttle drains by removing the plastic wheel arch liner and clearing the crud out from underneath??

May not be the same on the fabia though so I'd let others confirm that first.... Don't want to send you on a wild goose chase and waste your time!!

Agent 47 has it. There's instructions on how to do it in the Haynes book (for cleaning the plenum chamber), but I would suggest having to tool to remove the windscreen wipers (were a pig on mine), and having a supply of the clips ready (they will break - I had to cut through one on mine), before you start.

Just bumping this thread.

I'm about to clean the scuttle drains on my Fabia. Am I right in thinking that I need a supply of these, and one of these, and that's it?

Also, I may be being dim, but I can't find anything in  my Haynes manual. Nothing in the index for 'scuttle' or 'plenum' and I can't see anything in the service schedule. Can anyone point me to where to find the procedure?

Cheers,

Rich

Sometimes the puller you have identified won't fit under the wiper arm - best to take the nut off and spray with WD, shock/unlock etc and leave for a while - when trying to ease the wiper off its a case of jiggling about - try to remove the trim clips with a flat blade knife - once all is off you will see in the corners what needs cleaning -

Thanks. I'm still not clear what it is I'm going to be removing. Hopefully things will become clear when I start attacking the windscreen wipers.
