Skoda cannot use RS - so how come Renault can?

Featured Replies

Still using a mix of Peugeot, Ford and Volvo powertrains at the moment.

i read somewher, RS was fords rally sport, so when Skoda used it on their cars, ford were not happy  , but at the time Skoda were winning loads of rallys  , so they called it VRS =Victory Rally Sport  this answer i have always used when explaining to those wish they had a Skoda

I'm sure I read a long time ago that Ford had a pop at Skoda about this and Skoda came out on top on the legal challenge and have the right to use RS, but decided to keep the 'v' just to rub Ford's nose in it. Quite possibly just an urban myth though coz I'll be blowed if I can remember where I read it.

Gaz

so Skoda went to court, won the legal right to use the RS badge and to rub Ford's nose in it they didn't use it? makes sense

i heared vRS stands for Victor Rally Sport?

It stands for Rally Sport. The "v" is the mark from the top of the S in Skoda.
