CV joint nut

Featured Replies

Bought a CV joint online, came today, everything looks fine but it has a different hub nut. Its not the usual 36mm bi-hex its an 24mm single hex nylock nut. Everything else looks the same. Part numbers check out online but I'm hoping someone here has experience fitting this type of joint. Hoping I don't have to send it back because need the car for the trouble and strife. :)

When I've replaced them in the past, I've had similar problems. Iirc the threads are still the same so reuse the old one if it will help.

Other than that just get the tool to fit the new bolt, shouldn't be a problem really.

I could be wrong here, buy in my experience, the large bi-hex original nut is a use once item as the locking mechanism gets ripped off when you remove it, to the OP, maybe get along to a VAG dealer and buy a new proper nut to fit this new kit to the car.

You might be correct (and no offence) but I live in the real world where new bolts arnt used on everything, every time. If its important a small blob of lock tight is enough for me to sleep well at night :)

I'd double check its the right one.

The hub nut on the Fabia is very specific and must not be reused if the locking tags have broken off the back. Plus remember the relatively low torque of 50nm plus 45 degrees.
