Advanced auto parking/navigating Audis

Featured Replies

Couldn't think of a better topic title!

Very clever - but I'm not sure of the point really.

How would it deal with other traffic?

Does it grasp one way systems?

Can it work out disabled spaces/parent and child/reserved spaces?

If it parks itself underground and then loses data connection, do I have to walk around the entire car park to find the thing?

What if there's a traffic jam and cars need to back up etc - can it do this or does it force cars to go around again?

And so on.

At least in proper Audi style it never once indicated to show its intentions ;)

Very impressive (but not sure I believe it).

Why would the dash top display flip up when there's no one in the car to see it?

Probably a standard function of the car. Ignition on, screen out etc.

Very cool..now if only I could control it like James Bond controls his BMW in Tomorrow Never Dies :)

"August 29th 1997, Skynet becomes self aware!"

That is all!

August 30th 1997 the NiCd batteries in Skynet's little minions give up, Armageddon averted.

Mrs Grr just made a good point. How will it know the difference between

normal and disabled spaces? (Which are almost certainly the first empty ones

the car will 'find' in a lot of car parks.)

My thoughts too, as in the first post. ;)

Wonder how many people would use 'it's not my fault, it's what the car decided' as an excuse to evade the fines?

With the time it took to park itself, surely it would be quicker to do it yourself. That poor lazy lass would catch her death waiting for Th'Audi to emerge from the garage.

So, how does this fare against the law about leaving a running vehicle unattended? Plus as you're no doubt going to be responsible for anything it does anyway, I'd not like to give it a chance to crash into something by itself.

I can see driverless cars are coming. But I can (fortunately) see red tape causing problems for them. Why should it be the driver's fault if they have zero input into the car's actions? Should you need any insurance except fire/vandalism/theft? Surely the vehicle manufacturer should be the one holding the insurance for it crashing.

I don't believe that. I think it's fake. How did it know to use the right lane? It could have been blocked off. How will it cope with tickets for barriers etc. plus it liked breaking all the time, surely if it was computer controlled it would measure the amount of acceleration needed it maintain a certain speed to manoeuvre and wouldn't over compensate when steering?

I wonder how secure it is too

remote engine starting would make it easy to steal with no risk of being caught while in the act

she used the key to lock and then unlock it. Perhaps if it was running whilst locked and any attempt to drive it without unlocking or a smashed window would kill the engine.

I notice also it's a woman in the ad  not that I'm casting apsersions about women's driving or anything :hi:

So how would it "pay and display"?
