Blackline reversing sensors broke AGAIN......

Featured Replies

Not long after getting the Blackline, one of my reversing sensors spat it's dummy out. Everytime I put the car in reverse one of them detected something that wasn't there.

I took it back to Derek Slacks and they had a look, in the end they swapped two of them around and it cured the problem.

The problem is now back, my wife phoning me from work to tell me she noticed the fault this morning.

I live 30 miles from Slacks. The thought of having to take it in over and over again for the same problem is a sobering one. Does the warranty cover these for 3 years or just one? What about out of warranty? Surely there is an argument that the part is not fit for use?

Why would thay swap them round, surely if one is faulty they should just replace the faulty sensor.

Swapping them round sometime works due to getting a better connection. At least that's what the technician said. And in fairness, it's worked for 2 months since being in.

You dont want to be taking it back every few months though,it sounds like to me it needs a new sensor or two, shouldnt be a problem for a decent dealer to fix,id take it back, you shouldnt be having problems like this with a new car.

Just get sone paper towel and wipe all it sensors I had same prob its water getting into sensor making it think somthings there. Specialy with all the wet weather alately.

Just take it back and insist they fill the tank with diesel out of courtesy, They will have a fuel card its no hardship for the dealer but will give you an insentive i do this with my chosen dealer living even further away but it still makes it worth my while. Afterall its there second shot at the same problem.

I had one replaced when the car was about 6 months old. Same problem I think - water ingress, sensor permanently on when car put in reverse.

Since then all good. They do occasionally play up a little in the morning after a night of heavy rain.

Good luck getting it sorted.

Mine have played up twice in 2 months. Once in cold weather and once wet. Quick wipe soon sorted it.

Whatever manufacturer forum you go on there's issues with them. Not the greatest piece if technology but very useful none the less.
