PD130 Turbo Health Check

Featured Replies

Just a thought - with so many turbos going "pop", are there any "health checks" that can be done? I understand many go with little/no warning so I feel it would be good to know if there's anything we can do to ensure their longevity other than the usual (warm up/cool down/keep oil topped up) stuff!

Regular oil changes are the key with TDI's and especially the PD engines.

Other than that not much really. Just listening out for any changes in sound from the turbo for any early signs of failure and catch it before it goes and causes real damage.

ive always tried to let mine cool down, ie just leaving it to tick over a minute before turning engine off..

Drive it properly (hard) to help prevent carbon build as well as the above comments. Try some forte turbo cleaner as some preventative maintanance too.
