Too stiff?!

Featured Replies

Morning all,

Couple of questions. The bushes that SuperPro refer to as lower engine steady, do they mean dog-bone there?

And secondly, I'm taking my car in for a full superpro bush kit fitting and apparently a poly dog-bone can make the car very stiff and possibly shake? Is that the case?

Ta!

Nathan

I fitted a poly dogbone mount it does vibrait, shake a bit when first put on but settles so you don't notice it,it's a great mod and well worth doing :)

The dog bone bush is essentially an engine mount.

A soft bush will absorb the vibrations, a stiff/solid one will transmit those vibrations straight into the chassis so you may feel it more from the drivers seat.

But not to the point of fillings falling out and glasses vibrating off my face hopefully! I'll have it done and see what it's like.

adjust idling ;)

Use the powerflex red diesel one on the vrs

Gives off slight vibes but best compromise! And if you want stiffer you can add a super pro front bush insert

Best combo imo

The first 500 mile after fitting will be horrible but after that it should settle down, i have a fully superpro'd dogbone

My superpro dog bone is fine buddy. Barely noticed anymore vibration.

Thanks all,

Superpro throughout it is then! Can't wait for March now when I change insurers, remap it and sort the arb's out.

the powerflex ones def vibrate more than the equivalent superpro ones, have no experience of the red ones, you can change the idle to help reduce the chance of static vibration, superpro front insert as mentioned is great when fitted with the rear bush

I've ordered pretty much every Superpro bush under the car, with the exception of the rear subframe ones. Not even sure of they do those. I've got the rear beam ones though.

dont think they do the subframe ones, nice one, you will really notice the difference!

Rear beam makes a big difference tho is a bit of a pita to fit!

4 new (standard) shocks and springs going on too. ARB Droplinks, top mounts, the lot. Alan(Bluevrs2) says mine looks like a very tidy mk1 (praise indeed!) so I figured although I paid top dollar for it, spending the money to keep it well maintained will be worth it. But it's also a daily driver, hence why I've opted for standard suspension with subtle mods, eventually.

Can't wait for it all to be done. Then I'll need to cleeeeeean it again :)

Be like a new car,top job! :)

good plan, sounds like a nice car, and will go on for a long time after by the sounds of it...

oe plus:>

make sure you get new wishbone bushes and balljoints - makes a huge difference

Have you ordered standard top mounts as powerflex now do polybush ones,

If your changing rear springs i would also be tempted to change the rubber top and metal bottom supports aswell as mine have just started knocking over bumps altho i have coilovers on

Just standard top mounts and bearings.

And I forgot the rear bits :-(

I've got a red power flex main bush with super pro end bush for sale in my breaking car thread if anyone's interested
