Bullet Cam testing

Featured Replies

With the car now clean (read about it and see pics in my diary linked in my sig) it meant i could attach the suction cups of a mini DVR cam to more interesting places than my previous attempts.

video 1 - "wheel cam"

still like this effect but am annoyed at how much of the forward view you lose

and traffic ruined the road today.

Video 2 - "the rally stage"

This road is awesome in either direction and is tricky and challenging but can be quick and fun if empty.

Today however other people out enjoying their days (how very dare they!) meant for slow progress.

It's also massively pot holed which probably made for even slower progress!!

Play spot the jack russell if you get bored

1 is the Mini DVR on the door, is 2 the other camera on the roof?

I found with the Mini DVR getting it near the back of the front door meant you could get the whole front wheel in.

Then just loop the cable in the door shut and clip the hand unit onto the door bin.

yep exactly where they are.

Just above the bump strip on the drivers door and then the cable pulled as tight as seemed wise and then pull it shut.

(I think i may have even got in through the passenger door just in case :D)

and just above the windscreen dead centre

I've got 4 or 5 commutes to test new positions for it ;)

Car no longer clean? :( I think I'd prefer the sound on? If this is an option.

It's actually cleaner than i expected. especially when i had to pull into that muddy verge to let the guy past on in vid 2!

The microphone if on the recording device inside the car rather than the microphone so all you'd get if i left sound on would be the sound of the radio inside :)

A few more tests on this mornings commute and i am now 100% that external cameras and rain do not equal good footage! :D

Cam positioned at the very front of the rear window about half way up.

Whats up with the front wheel camber? Looks bad

It's fine I think it's just a combo of fish eye camera lens, camera angle rotation, and the inset Golf wheels.

Roof cam looks great.

Roof cam looks great.

Agreed :)
