What Coilovers Are You Using?

Featured Replies

Spax RSX on mine, no complaints until i go really low.

Ah, I just remembered, KW have had a re jiggle with their brands. What were the V1 basics are now branded as Weitecs.

What level of weitec though?

Weitec hicon GT

KW V1's on mine.. new front top mounts, new standard drop links, new rear cupra bump stops......

only issue i have found is when the rear adjusters were out & the front was very very low to match, it used to bob alot on the front bump stops around the lanes . dont get me wrong it looked fantastic just didnt like the way it handled..

raised a touch now still looks low but alot more stable.... still um-ing & ar-ing about dropping it back down as i did love the lower look..

AP's on mine, really cant complain think they are superb, although barely any speed bumps near me and quite good roads, quite bumpy on rough roads but all good fun :)

I run AP's.

Second car i've had with them, never again!!

Squeak like hell at the front, same issue on both cars/both sets.

That's odd - I have AP's and they ride perfectly. No squeeks at all, and everyone who has been in my car has said they are firm, but not as harsh as they were expecting from coilovers.

I've got JOM's on mine with some shorter drop links off a ford puma :)

But mines pretty low with 17 inch tt comps :)

Simmo3187, looking to get a set of JOMs for my vRS.

What do u make of ur coileys? Ive still got mine on the standard 16' spiders and standard suspention atm.

Just wanted the opinion of someone who's already running them, thanks

Yes must agree no noise at all, i do lubricate them once a month however!

I run Weitec Hicon GTs and can't fault them at all, a very comfortable coilover setup with a premium OEM feel. I often forget I'm running coilovers!

Until you stumble across a speedbump lol

... and at the low end of the market, my car had a fresh set of Raceland on it when I bought it. They are extremely cheap, I think around £180 on ebay for the set and to be honest, the seller told me they were cheap and gave me the orignal springs with the car in case I ever wanted to go back to stock.

I had never had coilovers on any car before so I told myself if they were horrible I'd change them, over a year later and they are still on the car. Only thing I did was raise them up a touch and tbh speedbumps are no problem, and theres a **** load of em where I live.

Okay handling probably isn't going to be as good as expensive set but comfort wise they damp really well, they are not too firm and not rattly. They are also easy to adjust.

If you're on a tight budget and still want the adjustable low ride height I can testify that they really aren't too bad at all, despite what some people on here might say. hey don't rattle, don't squeak or anything like that.

Personally I feel that putting £1000 coilovers on a mark 1 vrs is a bit extravagant.
