Chipping the 110 diesel

Featured Replies

One for the tuning owners. I am looking at chipping my 110 diesel. Apologies if this has been discussed before, but came across this company (Chip express) in this week's Auto Express (only brought that for the Yeti article BTW). Reading through the testimonials, and assuming they are all genuine, I was impressed with the 2 reviews from Yeti owners (anyone here?).

See following link for the testimonials:

All comments gratefully received before I shell out £395.

Because the 110 engine is effectively the same as the 140 it will remap to 170(ish).

Personally I'd use one of the known companies on Briskoda.

I've heard of Shark Performance remapping a 110 and my 170 was done by Jabbasport.

I don't trust feebdack that focusses on fuel savings, because in my experience you put your foot down a bit more meaning the economy savings are mostly lost. That's more sales tactics.

Also they say a 110 with a chip is a 140, which is not the case.

Thanks for speedy reply Richard - you must be glued to your i-phone.

Octygone had his 110 mapped to around 170 BTW, you could drop him a PM and see what he thought.

His was the front wheel drive version too.

Thanks - will do.

No need ...I am here .......110 will go very nicely to 174 ...and I would recommend Shark ....had so much fun in that car after the remap...

Shark is around the same price as well...Give Ben a call and say Rob sent you ...I am sure he could sort something out

Cheers - please ignore the PM I just sent.

OK will do.....Shark remap totally transformed a slightly underpowered car into something special

would pull from 40mph right up to silly numbers in 5th with no problem....and 45 to 50 mpg as well

I'm sold!

Suggest you upgrade the brakes as well......

312mm conversion.

You probably have the ones that aren't quite so easy to upgrade, being a CR110, meaning a change of calliper, carrier and disc required. Whereas my CR140 you just swap the discs and carriers and leave the calliper alone.

No brake upgrade I'm afraid, as re-map not required for speed just a smoother power delivery, as the 110 struggles in higher gears at low speeds and going uphill. Thanks anyway.

Would agree my 110 4x4 takes some slowing down, defiantly under braked and I wouldn't want any more power without sorting them out as well.

Not that I intend to remap as I'm more than happy with her current performance. Oh as also mentioned the 110 engine is physically the same as the 140; mapping, gearbox ratios and better brakes are about the sum difference for your extra £800 for 30PS more power.

TP

Have to say I never had any problem with my brakes...not once did they fade or fail to pull me up in a straight line ...had I have taken it on a track it may have been different, but I didn't drive any faster than before or race on public roads....the only difference is the fact that you can get to 70 quicker and easier
