Bluetooth coding help

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I'm installing a third party BT handsfree kit, has a mic on it and a line out. Today I've removed my radio (Blues) to hide the wires behind (attached to the aux-in) and came across the sticker on the radio saying "phone", has three pins, according to the sticker + / - / mute.

I don't remember having read anything in the users manual about phone handling. Do you guys know what these phone pins mean (what are they used for?) and how the Blues radio is supposed to handle the phone?

Thanks!

Aren't all VAG cars using the same Quadlock pin assignments at the moment?

If so, these are the answers: http://www.my-gti.co...pin-assignments

Hm, thx!

Does this mean I should simply connect the line out of my hands free device (that is now connected to aux-in) to

5 – Telephone audio input signal left, negative

6 – Telephone audio input signal right, negative

and I'm good? Will the radio recognize the phone input or is there some coding required?

I'm not familiar with the 'Blues' radio, so can't really advise further.

However, the 3rd pin (mute) is also used to mute the stereo when a call comes in (or is made). This is quite important as well as the + / - wires.

As far as I recall, the mic is wired to specific 'mic' pins (see here: http://www.my-gti.com/1234/volkswagen-rns-510-microphone-connection-for-voice-control).

These are the pin outs from the actual Skoda BT module (http://www.my-gti.com/173/volkswagen-skoda-bluetooth-pinouts) and may help you identify the pin outs on yours and, more specifically, where they should go on the Quadlock.

Coding for 3rd party BT kits, I have no idea on, but Skoda / VAG ones do need coding to work correctly (unless you are lucky).

I don't have wires for the mic as ths mic's built into my BT unit. I only have line out wires.

btw this is my BT handsfree unit.

I took a pic of the sticker on the radio: post-101983-0-23071000-1365451621_thumb.jpg

(I was wrong at the original post, it doesn't say "phone" but "tel". Wonder if I was ritht that these are for the phone...)
