New Octavia 4x4 owner - perfect timing!

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

I've been a registered member for ages, we originally ordered a Fabia vRS ltd ed, but cancelled it due to delays - hence the name.

Now 6 years on I finally own a Skoda!

It's a 2008 Octavia 4x4 to replace our Mondeo ST tdci which sadly was written off :(

Perfect timing too, it's snow outside right now and there is a big dump planned for Friday!

I'm hoping to get winter tyres fitted tomorrow and with the 4x4 we should be sorted.

Winter tyres are a must where we are, living in the country where the roads are rarely gritted.

Bring on the white stuff :)

Welcome from a fellow 4X4 owner. :) Diesel or petrol?

Petrol, 2.0 NA.

Quite different coming from the Mondeo which was diesel and ~165bhp. Having said that it seems pretty torquey and responsive.

I'd be interested to see what a 4x4 looks like with 17" wheels. I was thinking of adding a set with summer tyres if/when that arrives and keep the 15's with winter tyres.

With 17s it will look more like a Scout.

I've ended doing it the wrong way round as my winter tyres are on 16" rims, whilst the summers are on the standard 15s.

I did go for a drive on Monday in the snow as I "really" needed to pop home from work to pick something up!

Welcome from another 4x4 owner... not sure about 17s but I have 16s (appolons) on mine...

Also waiting for the snow...

On the subject of winter tyres I've got Vredestein Sportrac 3's on mine and have had for the last few bad winters and have no snow traction problems whatsoever - the limiting factor has actually been ground clearance...
