CR And PD Injectors

Featured Replies

guys, just another quick one ive now been reading no matter, when or how you replace the injectors? they will go again at some point? is this true? has anyone here replaced them numerous times?

or has it been change once or changed when screwed and nothing has happened since?

As I just replied in the other thread, get a CR and they are not an issue.

As the CR engine is newer they are more expensive.

"Just buying a CR" isn't an option for everyone.

There weren't even that many failures of the pre-recall injectors on the PD.

I've not read one thread about a failed injector since the VOSA/Skoda UK recall either.

Don't let it put you off the PD. Any PD170 you are looking at will either have already had them replaced FOC, or you will be able to get them replaced FOC after you buy.

The way the OP's previous (numerous) threads sounded, it was just a case of deciding which to go for, hence my reply. As I said in his other posts, 3 seperate VAG techies (2 master techs) said to me don't under any circumstances buy a PD170. So if I was deciding between the two it'd be the CR.

It cost wasn't a consideration I would too, but the very fact he's considering one or the other suggests it might be an influence.

The point I was trying to make is don't be put off the PD170 by the couple of issues that either have already been fixed, will be fixed for free or can be avoided by putting aside £500 for DPF removal.

I'd like to see feedback on the CR170 in 5 years time when its been around as long as the PD.

There is also the fact that the 2.0CR engine is basically just a 2.0PD engine with a modified head to take the common rail injectors! Otherwise very little mechanical difference between them.
