Water leak behind the glovebox - will it dry ok without doing anything?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am in the process of selling my Fabia (getting a Citigo) and put it through a car wash today. During the wash, water started pouring down from behind the glove box! Luckily, most of it was caught by the rubber floor mat, but some spilled over and onto the carpet. It seemed to happen each time the water spray passed the passenger side (right side, this a LHD car).

Searching the forum, it seems that this is most likely related to blocked drains under the scuttle cover (black plastic cover betwen windscreen and engine bay):

Could it be anything else? I want to reassure the new owner (and myself) that this can be fixed easily. The ventilation was in the combined windscreen/footwell setting when this happened.

And is it necessary to do anything in particular to dry out the moisture or will it dry by itself? Tried to remove the glove box, but one of the screws wouldn't come loose, so I didn't get a proper look behind it.

Thanks for your help!
