Couldn't get any concrete information on if it will work with my MKII Octavia VRS's so decide to bite the bullet, for the sake of a tenner can't really go wrong. I'm hopefully going to get Torque Pro on my Samsung Galaxy Ace android. Does anyone have any experience of using torque on a Galaxy Ace or a mkII VRS for that matter. If not and your curious if either work then keep watching this post i will report back once it arrives.

Works for me using a nexus 4. :)

For those interested i can now confirm that this above adapter does work in the MKII Octavia and works with the Samsung Galaxy Ace. (Android 4)

First thing i did is with the ignition turned off inserted the Reader into the OBDII Port under the stearing column (Right Side) Red light came on unit. It was a tight fit to seat it fully engaged but went in no problems.

I then paired the device to my Phone code was usual 1234, (simples) Device is now flashing green amber lights etc.

Started the app Torque (Free) which i had already selected all the graphs dials and displays i wanted and pre positioned them on the various screens which you just cycle through with a thumb swipe. It auto detected all the settings.

Started the engine few seconds delay and then all the dials came to life, i ran it with the gps disabled just to make sure the speed sensors were coming through the obdii rather than through the phones gps as i figure this is more accurate. All the guages worked ok and gave good feedback the temps were too low on some things to get a reading but thats just because the ambient temperature was about -5°. The boost gauge didn;t work but i guess thats because you need to buy the pro version so im off to play store now to buy it.

I think the fault reading bit should work ok and you should be able to clear them however mine didn't come up with any faults to try it with. There are some faults that come up on my VCDS (Heated mirror and elec windows etc.) but these are not covered by OBDII so this is the correct result i would have expected.

One thing worth mentioning. The connector has a retaining clip you can see in the photo above which makes it an absolute pig to get out as you dont have much to hold onto with the device disapearing into the recess. I would snap this off before fitting as its a tight fit so no danger of disengaging while driving but will make removal much easier.

P.S. Is there a spelling checker on this posting interface as im sure the above is littered with typo's, seeing as i typed it quickly.

Fault finder found my mis-fire on the specific cylinder (coil pack), so it will give an indication of faults. Also found a faulty cam sensor on a BMW e46.

Yeah but the engine is covered on the OBDII However manufacturer specific spec items arn't so for everything other than the usual engine stuff i would use my vcds. I wanted this really for an 'at a glance' check of all the temps and pressure levels etc. Also handy that i now know my alternator is outputting about 14.5v. sounds about right from memory, usefull if you don't have a multimeter handy.
