"Dynamic sporty package that can include bucket seats, a leather-covered three-spoke sport-type steering wheel, a leather-covered handbrake grip and gear change lever knob, light-alloy 17

The most important innovation for the Fabia range is introduction of a new Duel Rate brake assist, fitted as standard on cars equipped with the ABS system. Providing brake servo action growth during emergency braking, the Dual Rate brake assist helps achieve maximum braking effect and a shorter braking distance.

Having witnessed a near miss on a busy motorway where a Mercedes in the outside lane hit the brakes, activated brake assist in the process, and caused a following white van to swerve into the middle lane to avoid a multiple pile-up - which didn't occur because the middle lane was luckily "available" at that point at the time - I'd be very wary of having a car with Brake Assist...

thats why theres a set distance for people to have at high speeds or any speed :)

Yes - but try driving on a busy motorway leaving the required distance in front - you virtually go backwards with the number of people cutting in in front of you.

The stopping distance at 70mph is (according to the Highway Code) 96 metres - that's 24 car lengths...

I have a "target rule" for driving on motorways - never use the brake...

i.e. always drive sufficiently far behind the car in front to slow merely by lifting off the accelerator.

....but being hit from behind will not be your fault in the eyes of the law or insurers. hitting someone because you didnt stop is always your fault.

In the case I witnessed I believe the Mercedes driver WOULD have been deemed at fault for braking unnecessairy severely... anyway we're wandering off thread here.

Should/will the new colours be available for the vRS? Why should the vRS's colour choice be so limited when its proportion of Fabia sales appears to be relatively high?

I want a Superb touring.. guess it will never happen.

well the two new colours..."On all model families, the range of exterior colours has been augmented with two new metallic tints: the Highland green and the Strom blue" so i guess that means a bristish raceing green and a blue like the fabia paris study AWWWW i love that blue!! :D

Sorry but DRJ: following white van

that says it all to me they should be banned off the road as they are a menace.

The other option is drive so close you are practically touching the car in fronts bumber so if they brake your car will slow down too, almost like being towed.

Anyone know where we can see the new range (the Skodas, not white vans or Mercedes)

Another important novelty for the Octavia cars is introduction of the DSR (Driver Steering Recommendation) system

A recorded voice that says "I recommend not crashing"

Another new feature that can be ordered as part of an extra equipment of the Octavia car is the HHC system
