Fabia II dash lock/unlock button not working

Featured Replies

Using the key-fob, the central locking on my Fabia II is working fine and I've not had any of the gremlins discussed in some threads here. But...the button by the gear stick to lock and unlock the doors doesn't seem to work. Nothing happens when I press it - it doesn't even illuminate. Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Oli

Hi mate the button doesnt illuminate but other then that cant help ya. I have to use mine when the boot decides it aint gonna unlock by key

mine illuminates does it light up orange when drive away locking has activated

Welcome to the forum.

No idea if your one should light, it does on a vRS when you push it to 'lock'. Not to unlock.

I would check the wires at the switch first, then then see if there is a fuse covering that switch.

I have auto lock de-activated. I can lock all car doors by pressing the button in the centre console. I can also unlock them using the same button. Not sure what happens though if you have auto lock activated,

Thanks for the replies. Maybe it's something to do with auto lock. What exactly is that and how do you activate/deactivate?

Not sure if it is called 'Auto lock' or 'Antihijack', have seen both terms used. I have it on mine and basically when you drive off and hit about 10ish mph the doors lock. They will then unlock when you remve the key from the ignition. The lock/unlock botton by the gearstick still works. I always forget the doors are locked when I stop to pick up my wife or a passenger and then have to fumble for the button.

To get it activated or deactivated you will need either a dealer or someone with VCDS.

I'm not aware of the doors locking as I drive off, so it sounds like it's been deactivated (I bought the car used). So maybe that's why the dash button isn't working. Any idea whether I would be best off going to a Skoda dealer for this or should my local mechanic be able to do it?
