Retaining radio code

Featured Replies

Anyone know where I can buy a tool to plug into cigarette lighter so I don't lose radio code when removing or changing batteries?

If you have the factory stereo, don't worry about that. Once you've changed the battery, the very first time you turn the headunit on, it will say "LEARN" on the display, if memory serves, and then after a few seconds will work as normal. You won't need to enter any radio code, unless you take it out and install it in a different car.

Oh, I think you need to have the ignition on when you turn the radio on that first time, otherwise it will ask for the code.

As I also work on non-Vag cars I need the tool to be sure I don't lose the code. Thanks.

I was given a car vacuum cleaner as a present. As it was useless, I cut off the lead and plug and I have used this on a variety of vehicles when replacing batteries. I use the battery from my golf trolley and my tip is to keep the radio playing whilst you swap it; this works every time!!!

I've asked for my code and the Skoda garage just simply gave it to me.
