Weissenfels Clack & Go

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Does anyone know if these can be fitted to a Yeti with 215/60 x 16s ? I know that normally Ytetis need to fit 205/55s for chains. but these have no chain on the inside of the wheel; it's either on the tread or outside.

Anyone have any experience of these?

Alternative - Michelin have what appears to be a rubber mesh alternative, tesnioned by Nylon straps on the outside.

I'm looking for a "Get me off this slippery bit" rather than chains I'm going to use for miles.

What about Weissenfels Snow Socks? They'll get you out of the bad stuff.

Obvious answer I suppose, but I've tried snow socks and they don't last long before being trashed. Want a longer term solution.

The Clack & Go still have an "arm" that goes over the back of the tyre, so I doubt they will fit. and having seen them fitted to a car and come off, ripping a brake pipe off I wouldn't use them!!

I explored the options about 2 years back (and posted questions on here). Consensus view was no chains are suitable, and those nylon things don't seem to be up to much either. In the end I bought snow socks just in case. They've never been used - winter tyres and 4X4 are all you need.

The pacakaging for the Michelin "rubber mesh alternative" states, in very small text, "not suitable for use where restrictions on use of chains exist" (or words to that effect.

I have them for my Yeti 225/50 17s' but not used them yet.

Mine are the self tightening ones ;) (ooooer misses)

Maybe they were just badly fitted by the user Graham.

I don't think so Mac. The guy that bought them is a bit "fussy" about these things (he's a H & S consultant!!) I saw him fit them to the rear wheels of his Smart to try to get out of our old street, and they stayed tight for a couple of minutes, but when the back wheels spun one started to come undone and that side took a brake line out. I know he complained and got his money back from them. Funny seeing a Smart being winched onto a transporter later!!
