Can you use a Elegance / VRS Flick-key on a Comfort?

Featured Replies

I've got a Comfort model Fabia, and have seen the flick / folding key that comes with the Elegance and VRS models instead of the traditional style Key. Is it possible to buy one and programme it to mine as im fed up with stabbing myself in the leg. :)

I think it is possible! You have to ask your skoda dealer ;)

Cheers

It's possible. You'll have to **** the money out to pay for a new remote-control key though...

You can use the flip key with the comfort.

The flip key needs to be the correct type (with three buttons).

I programed one on our comfort estate about 12 months ago.

The opening of the rear hatch with the centre button works as well.

You will need to either have the immolbiliser number or have the dealer program it for you.

If you have or can obtain the code, then someone with VAG-COM can program it for you.

Hope this helps

Forgive my ignorance ... but does this mean that you have to have remote central locking for this mod to work?

These Furby mods are not as easy as your previous Smart ones then ? :)

Steve ... the pipe and slipper mod was easy enough, and lots of my smartclub mates offered to get the parts for me :)

 Glad I havent got a " Pipe & Slipper " Furby. < ducks under cover >

How much did you pay Dougal?

IIRC from a dealer both parts of the key come to around

The key is very expensive itself. Hopefully you are able to get them reprogrammed for free if you were to purchase two of them, or do a deal with your dealer (no pun intented).

For that kinda dosh I'd definitely ring around a few dealers though, that's enough difference to warrant a good drive :D

Just been to dealer and they say it wouldn't work as the whole locking and imobilser system would need changing

But as Dougal mentions he has done it himself.

Where can i get the imobiliser code from? Presumably I'd be able to buy a key and get it cut and progrmmed elsewhere.

Finally I do't know anyone with a VAG-COM, what do I need it for?

I bought a second hand key of Ebay for

Also make sure you purchase a good quality adhesive- the part that holds the keyring on the flick key has a habit of breaking. Mine has broken 6 or 7 times....

Also I had thought there were some issues on older comfort cars with regards to the ECU being different from an elegance ECU and certain functions not being on there. I thought I remembered Jason considering this at one time...

Cheers,

How can I tell if I've Immobilsder 2 or 3, its a 51plate (Nov 2001)

Lastly I don't have the plastic strip, i bought it second hand.

Think I may give up on this idea before it costs too much or I break something :D
