Seen my dream estate car!

Featured Replies

How on earth I forgot this one existed is beyond me - 2001 RS4 avant, 2.7 bi turbo.

Need a spare £12k for one though, unless I paint it white so the misses doesn't notice!

I have a soft spot for fast estates, mercedes c63 amg would be on that list if I made it longer...

How about one of these

S4 running costs are high though. They are bad on fuel, even for a 2.7 litre engine.

I've always fancied chucking the running gear from one into a fabia.....

I had an A6 3.0tdi, DSG, I ran it for two days as my audi was in for DPF sensor change. I did over 700 miles in it and can say it is quick, not as quick as the cars mentioned above, but it was standard S line trim, I am sure a remap would make it go quicker, what I was impressed with was the 40 mpg even after I had been driving it. Well worth a test drive. IMO

Seen those xf sport brake things, they look good :)

Yep, seen running costs and fuel costs can be high on s and rs4 from 2001.

S4's are half the price of an RS4 though...

Not keen on the A6 looks wise but that 3.0 is a peach.

For me most estates look better than the saloon/hatch of the same car. Take my fabia vrs for example!

Nissan stagea for me.....a skyline in estate form :D

Had an 3.0 Audi Q7 for a bit last year, I say a bit, well 7 days. What a hoot!

Considering the weight of the thing and the auto gearbox, it didn't half shift, especially in " " mode!

Managed 4 mpg off the lights once.

Agreed on estates though - they all look so much better.

You might think I'm crazy but I like the look of the new Ford Focus ST Estate. Looks better than the hatch for me.

what about an audi s6 c5, better engine imo than the 2.7 biturbo (4.2 NA)

Uses a lot more fuel though, and the 2.7 bi isn't as rev the nuts off as the 4.2.

Love the new st estate, been for a look already as a mate works for ford - discount maybe ;)

not so sure, i had that engine, and it required boost to move, so it caned fuel, recon the torque/grunt of the v8 would need less thrashing, thats what i keep telling myself

One of the guys I work with just got a white ST-2 for £17.5k!

Manual A6 Quattro 2.7 or 3.0 rarer than rocking horse ****. I'd like one with leather please.

Cav - nice find! I shall have to ask him one day, shame it can't be a Skoda...

Apaman - sounds good, it's all about the S and RS though, flared arches ftw!

If I could afford it I'd have a RS4 or RS6. And as others have said estates look better (not that Im bias).

rs6 is me dream car, but the reality is they aren't that much quicker than an s6, but they do cost a hell of a lot more to repair when they go wrong, and apparently they do go wrong a fair bit, plus i like the idea of supercharging an s6

Citroen DS23 EFi Safari, Citroen CX Loadrunner or Nissan Stagea please!

Not sure I'd ever put "dream" and "estate" in the same sentence :D

Other half's uncle in Germany has a Touareg 3.0 TDI. It is a cracking engine and even with the weight doesn't half shift. It also has an 8 speed gearbox!

I agree on most estates but some like like they have just stuck the back end off another car on them!

Estates FTW

The C6 RS6 is much quicker than a C6 S6 as is the C7. The C5 RS6 is one the most unreliable cars out there. I have seen some people's bill and its disgusting.

The C5 and C6 S6's are generally considered the worst Audis out of the whole S, RS range excluding the S3. This is according to the vast majority of people on the S, RS forum. I cannot back up this comment personally.

As long as the B5 S and RS4 are reliable (and they are from what I hear) then I'm not worried.

Fuel economy will be 20-30 max. But with 4wd and almost 400bhp on tap I can understand :)

the B5's are pretty solid. I know of a few heavily tuned and they run ok.
