Fitted a Bolero to a Fabia?

Featured Replies

No, but its not to distracting in VW colours. There is a bolero in ebay at the moment that would fo in without fuss. I just fancied DAB and prefer TomTom for Nav having had 2 Columbus in the past in previous cars

Thanks, does the bezel fit they look different shapes.....

I have, bought one from a superb off eBay and it was a doddle to fix with no coding required.

Works with the Bluetooth, MDI and Maxi-dot.

IMHO a very worthwhile upgrade as it looks much better and matches the new steering wheel, plus easier to navigate my iPhone songs.

Paid £150 and sold my swing for £50, so net £100 to upgrade.

Is the octy one and the superb the same shape?

No

Octavia are all the "wider" design and won't fit. Newer Superb 2 are the wider design to, you need an earlier Mk2 Superb bolero for a fabia 2 or go the RCD510 route like I did.

Look at this auction, he has both pictures of the head unit up, he is actually selling the version in the second picture, which is what you need for a Mk2 Fabia

Today I fitted a VW RCD 510 DAB Unit into my 2012 Fabia Scout, Plug and play, no coding required and I have the poverty spec dashpod, no maxidot.

Added a 5K0 Bluetooth kit today, only thing I had to do was pull the mic wires from the green plug in the quadlock and fit them to plug / pin 11 & 12 on the 5K0 Bluetooth unit connector as most plug and play harnesses are built for RNS510 (Columbus) not RCD510 (bolero).

No coding needed, pairs and streams music from both my android and Window mobile 8 handsets, and the phone is controlled through the RCD510 (I don't have maxidot)

Great addition to the car, DAB radio is performing perfectly so far with crystal clear sound and a good choice of stations, autoleads glass mount aerial is working well.

Has anybody that swapped their headunit to a vw one found that the volume control on the steering wheel no longer works?
