Fitted a Bolero to a Fabia?

Featured Replies

Has anyone fitted a Bolero from a Superb into a Fabia with Bluetooth?

Is it a straight forward swop?

Thank you

Anyone done this?

The Bolero, assuming you get an early'ish one will fit, the 2012 on Superb has a different shape Bolero. The Bluetooth is an external module, and I am not sure if the Fabia will have the necessary canbus signals to control it.

Why the bolero? If your doing that go for columbus ?

Bolero is £150, Columbus is £400 odd and already got a TomTom so didn't see the point.

Wasn't sure about fitting the GPS too?

Ok but thr balero is hard an improvement on a swing :/

I should imagine it will work as im sure ive seen yeti have a swing ir balero fitted.

Bolero from VW will fit, but dimming is red.

Its from a Superb, so should match ok.

Old shape Bolero will mechanically fit. But it wont completely work as the CAN bus protocoll is different.

You will need an adapter from 1.6 to 2.0 CAN.

How do I know if its the old shape?

Its from a brand new Superb

Balls, with the canbus thing will it work fine?

If not, I'll chuck it back on ebay.

CAN bus adapter will fix the problem that the unit doesnt switch off wenn iginition is turned off. And some small other things.

Sorry, just looked at the shape. The difference in shape should be visible.

You'll only need the CAN interface, when you have a pre facelift model. Facelift has CAN 2.0 and doesn't need that interface.

Did anybody do this in the end, I want to upgrade from the rubbish swing. It is to fit into a facelift fabia.

Today I fitted a VW RCD 510 DAB Unit into my 2012 Fabia Scout, Plug and play, no coding required and I have the poverty spec dashpod, no maxidot.

Is that that same as the bolero ? I have been looking at them on fleabay but look the wrong shape

RCD510's are the right shape for the Fabia II, same shape as a Columbus

This is mine, seller was ok, mailed code through after I confirmed receipt of the unit, London based and took 24hrs from auction to delivery. Used a stick on SMB DAB Aerial from Halfords as their Autoleads ones are in stock and the same price as the bay.

No, but its not to distracting in VW colours. There is a bolero in ebay at the moment that would fo in without fuss. I just fancied DAB and prefer TomTom for Nav having had 2 Columbus in the past in previous cars
